Australia Awards for Africa 2016: Scholarships and Fellowships

Australia Awards, a cornerstone of the Australian Government’s development assistance program for Africa, provide access to postgraduate education, training and professional development opportunities for suitably qualified Africans from eligible countries

Australia Awards funds qualified African candidates for masters studies in Australia in priority subjects that include agriculture and food security; natural resource management (including mining and mining governance); public policy; health; and water and sanitation.

Award types include:
      •    Australian Awards Scholarships, to undertake higher degree studies in Australia at Masters level.
      •    Australia Awards Short Courses, to undertake short-term, targeted professional training courses, in    Australia and/or in Africa, in a range of development-focused sectors.

Commonwealth Scholarships for Master’s and PhD study – developing Commonwealth country citizens

DEADLINE: 19 November 2015 23.59 (GMT)

Commonwealth Scholarships for Master’s and PhD study in the UK are offered for citizens of developing Commonwealth countries. These scholarships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), with the aim of contributing to the UK’s international development aims and wider overseas interests, supporting excellence in UK higher education, and sustaining the principles of the Commonwealth.

You can apply for a Commonwealth Scholarship for the following levels of study:

      •    Master’s (one-year courses only)
      •    PhD

All subject areas are eligible, although the CSC’s selection criteria give priority to applications that demonstrate the strongest relevance to development.

You should apply to study at a UK university with which the CSC has a part funding agreement.

Echoing Green Fellowships 2016

DEADLINE: Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. (14:00) ET

Echoing Green’s Fellowship Programs will offer more than $4.6 million in seed-stage funding and support this year to emerging leaders working to bring about positive social change.

The Climate Fellowship, built in partnership with The ZOOM Foundation, is specifically targeted for next-generation social entrepreneurs committed to working on innovations in mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

The Global Fellowship is a twenty-seven-year-old program for smart leaders who are deeply connected to the needs and potential solutions that may work best for their communities. Any emerging social entrepreneur from any part of the world working to disrupt the status quo may apply.

The Black Male Achievement (BMA) Fellowship is the first fellowship in the world for social entrepreneurs dedicated to improving the life outcomes of black men and boys in the United States. The Fellowship was founded and is supported in partnership with the Open Society Foundations since 2012.

Unilever Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneur Awards

The Unilever Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneurs Awards are one significant way to inspire action—that is why they searching for young innovators (ages 18 to 35) worldwide who are tackling one or more of the following UN Millennium Development Goals: no poverty; zero hunger; gender equality; clean water and sanitation; affordable and clean energy; decent work and economic growth; responsible consumption and production; and climate action. Six finalists will each receive cash prizes of €10 thousand, along with support and mentoring. One winner will receive €50 thousand and will be awarded the HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize, plus support and mentoring.
