Maypole may be able to help with a grant of up to £750.

Aims
Maypole aim is to resource imaginative, non-violent activities by individual women and women's groups for the furtherance of peace with justice and environmental safety.

Maypole welcomes applications from women for projects and activities that meet the following aims of The Maypole Fund:

  • Peace initiatives, disarmament and action against the arms trade;
  • Anti-militarism and action against male violence;
  • Nuclear issues;
  • Environmental issues;
  • The promotion of women’s social and political autonomy throughout the world;
  • International, national and/or regional networking between women for the above purposes.

Postcode Lottery Green Challenge

The Postcode Lottery Green Challenge is the largest annual worldwide competition for sustainable entrepreneurs who can instigate change. The challenge is looking for products or services that not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions and be ready to go to market within 2 years, but also combine sustainability, entrepreneurship and creativity.

5 finalists are chosen each year to go to Amsterdam and present their plans to an expert jury & audience. By becoming finalists, these high-potential startups get access to their international network of mentors and investors, and they try to help accelerate them towards a successful launch of their product, service or technology. On top of that, the best finalist wins 500,000 EUR to bring his/her plan to market. A runner-up prize of 200,000 EUR is also awarded.

The Climate CoLab: climate change challenges

The Climate CoLab started with twenty-two contests but later some more contests were added, all seeking ideas on how to make a significant difference in addressing climate change. you could win the chance to present your idea in front of world renowned experts to help get your idea implemented, and win a $10,000 Grand Prize!  You can also win cash prizes by being a part of someone else’s proposal.

    Winners in all contests will present their proposals at MIT and enter the running for the Climate CoLab’s $10,000 Grand Prize.

    Conservation Workshop Grants

    Conservation Workshop Grants fund organizations to train communities, stakeholders, park guards, and others on local and regional conservation issues. These grants support training workshops with a strong hands-on learning component that will build capacity for people living in WWF priority places in select countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Local organizations from select WWF-US priority countries must meet all of the eligibility criteria to be considered for a grant.

    Organizations may request up to $7,500 for the proposed training.

    DEADLINES
    All applicants must complete an application by one of the deadlines noted below. The workshop must take place at least 90 days after the application deadline to allow EFN time for review, selection, and processing of the grant. Applications will be reviewed 4 times a year as noted below:
    •    February 1, 2015
    •    May 1, 2015
    •    August 1, 2015
    •    November 1, 2015

    TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme

    Deadline: 31 March each year. Successful applicants will be informed three months after the deadline.

    Postdoctoral researchers from sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa, can go on a ‘Cooperation Visit’ lasting three months to an institute in Germany.

    The TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme provides postdoctoral researchers from sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa, with the opportunity to make a ‘Cooperation Visit’ to an institute in Germany of no more than 3 months.

    TWAS will cover visa, health insurance and travel expenses, while DFG will provide subsistence costs for the stay in Germany. The administration and financial operation of TWAS is undertaken by UNESCO in accordance with an agreement signed by the two organizations.

    Eligibility
    •    Applicants must hold a PhD and must have obtained it not earlier than 2010;
    •    Applicants must be nationals of a sub-Saharan African country, including South Africa, and hold a research position in sub-Saharan Africa.
    •    Applicants already on site in Germany are not eligible.
    •    Successful applicants can only reapply once for another cooperation visit.
    •    Women scientists are especially encouraged to apply.
    •    All fields of Natural and Social Sciences will be considered.
