Commonwealth shared scholarship scheme – Institute of Development Studies 2015 assists students from developing commonwealth countries who, though of high calibre, would otherwise not be able to afford to study in the UK and who have been offered a place on one of the following masters courses at Sussex:
  • Conflict, security and development 
  • Corruption and governance 
  • Development Economics  
  • Geopolitics and Grand Strategy    
  • Innovation and Suitability for International Development      
  • International Education and Development        
  • International Relations       
  • International Security    
  • Migration Studies
Award amount
Full scholarship (tuition fees at overseas level, return flights plus some other costs and living costs)

Eligibility
To apply for a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship, candidates must:
•    Be Commonwealth citizens, refugees, or British protected persons
•    Be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country (a full list is available here)
•    Be available to commence their academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2015
•    Hold, by October 2015, a first degree of at least upper second class Honours standard
•    Not have undertaken studies lasting one year or more in a developed country
•    Be unable themselves, or through their families, to pay to study in the UK
•    Candidates may hold another scholarship/award.

 Application procedure
Candidates for award must apply first for a place on Masters Degree at Sussex online here.
Once candidates have an offer of a place (unconditional or conditional), they must in addition submit an application via CSC's Electronic Application System (EAS) here.
The EAS will close to applicants on 16 April 2015.
